The World of the Narrows series

In Fable, the first book in this coming-of-age YA fantasy, we meet Fable, an independent seventeen-year-old survivor who was raised in the Narrows. Following her mother's death and after her father abandoned her, she's forced to look after herself on a dangerous island.

She finds herself forming an alliance with a young trader named West, who helps her escape the island so she can reunite with her father. As Fable and West make their way across the Narrows, they are met with danger, betrayal, and competition, which makes it hard to know who’s an ally and who’s an enemy.

Namesake follows Fable and the crew from the Marigold ship after they became free of her father's control. Unfortunately, the freedom is short-lived after Fable becomes part of a dangerous thug’s scheme.

If she wants to reach her destination, she must help the thug form a partnership with Holland, a powerful gem trader. Soon, Fable's family secrets come to light and put the ones she loves at risk, and in order to protect them, she has to risk everything, all while fighting for survival in a male-dominated world.

In The Last Legacy, we meet Bryn Roth, who decides to return to her family in Bastian after she receives a letter from her uncle Henrik on her eighteenth birthday. Determined to prove herself, she's willing to try gaining everyone's trust but soon discovers that the family business is darker than she imagined.

There are also two novellas set within The World of the Narrows, which can be found in Tides & Drift. Tides allows readers to witness the first time fan-favorite characters Paj and Auster meet, while Drift follows the voyages of Willa and Koy as they forge their own path across the Narrows.

Saint is the prequel to The World of the Narrows and focusses on the life of Elias, a young man who's known for his piety and luck. Elias is about to achieve his dream of becoming a trader sailing the Narrows, but when he meets a mysterious girl from the Unnamed Sea, everything changes. Soon, he has to make a choice between love and the beliefs that made him who he is today.

Sky and Sea Duology

This YA fantasy series is set in a world inspired by Viking culture and language, so Adrienne has created a handy pronunciation guide to help readers. You can find that here.

Sky in the Deep is the first book in the Sky and Sea duology. Eelyn, who's part of the Aska clan, has spent her life fighting against the Riki clan. Everything she thought she knew is turned upside down when she sees her brother, who she thought died years ago, fighting alongside the enemy.

After being captured by the Riki, Eelyn fights to survive the harsh winter while dealing with the betrayal and her new enemy. As another clan threatens both the Aska and Riki, she finds herself working with Fiske, her brother’s friend, and together they unite the clans to fight for survival.

The Girl the Sea Gave Back is a young adult fantasy novel set in the same world as Sky in the Deep. Tova, a Truthtongue who has the power to see the future through rune stones, has been raised by the Svell people after she was found washed ashore as a child.

When two rival clans come together and her world begins to collapse, Tova is asked to predict what will happen if her clan goes to war.

Spells for Forgetting

Spells for Forgetting is a mystery novel. After Emery's boyfriend, August, was accused of murdering her best friend, Lily, on the evening of their high school graduation on their home island of Saoirse, her life was changed forever.

Years later, Emery still resides on the island, running her mother's tea shop, but the island’s community is disrupted when strange things begin to happen.
With no warning, August returns after fourteen years, wanting closure from her following his mother's death. His presence causes old wounds to open, and soon it becomes clear that Lily’s murder wasn’t a coincidence…

OwlCrate Edition of The Unmaking of June Farrow

The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young was our November 2023 ‘Hidden In Time’ adult fantasy book choice. This book is equal parts fantasy, mystery, and romance, with a touch of magical realism and plenty of time travel.

The women in June Farrow's family are known for their thriving flower farm and a generations-old curse. Following her mother's disappearance, June wants to break free. For a while now, she’s been seeing and hearing things that aren’t real, so when a mysterious door appears, she thinks it’s just another vision.

After her grandmother’s death, mysterious clues result in June ending up at the door she previously thought wasn’t real but this time she sees it as a chance to end the curse — even if it means sacrificing love and her family. Stepping through, she finds herself on a journey that reveals the town's secrets, changes the past and future, and entangles her heart in a star-crossed love.
