5. The series has lighter fantasy elements.

This series has enchanted inanimate objects and warring deities. Ruthless Vows expands upon the magical elements introduced in Divine Rivals, introducing more enchanting creatures and captivating settings. Fantasy elements are used to depict the horror of war.

6. The characters are truly remarkable.

It was easy to immerse myself in Roman's and Iris's story and root for them because they were well-rounded and relatable. The characters in Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows all possess their own strengths, flaws, and emotional complexities, making them feel more real. I genuinely empathized with their triumphs and trials. Each character, from our main hero & heroine to the supporting cast, was intriguing and enjoyable to read about.

7. The storytelling is engaging.

"He wondered how many mundane things hid magic, or perhaps it was better to think of it as how much magic liked being married to the ordinary. To simplicity and comfort and overlooked details."

― Rebecca Ross, Ruthless Vows

The story is told through alternating perspectives (mainly Roman's and Iris's), letters, present timelines, and introspective moments, which kept me engaged from start to finish. Each narrative element added depth and complexity to the storyline.

8. The conclusions were impactful.

The conclusion of Divine Rivals was left open in a moment of suspense and left me eager to know what would happen next for Roman and Iris. Ruthless Vows delves deeper into the lore of the world, shedding light on the gods and their intricate past, picking up where Divine Rivals left off.

9. The witty banter was charming.

One of the main tropes in The Letters of Enchantment Duology is 'Rivals To Lovers'. Witnessing the romance blossom was an absolutely fun and beautiful experience. As the romance between Roman and Iris blossoms, so does their sense of self, drawing them closer together and propelling them towards personal growth. The witty banter between them was delightfully entertaining.

10. The series is both young adult and new adult.

"But time will slowly heal you, as it is doing for me. There are good days and there are difficult days. Your grief will never fully fade; it will always be with you--a shadow you carry in your soul--but it will become fainter as your life becomes brighter. You will learn to live outside of it again, as impossible as that may sound. Others who share your pain will also help you heal because you are not alone. Not in your fear or your grief or your hopes or your dreams. You are not alone."

― Rebecca Ross, Divine Rivals

Though classified as young adult, the duology explores themes such as war, violence, grief and alcoholism with sensitivity and depth, making it suitable for a broader audience. This insightful perspective enhances the likelihood of fostering more personal connections.
