Amber and I are BACK this July for a fun new readalong! We're about to start our monthly discussion for our June "If The Fates Allow" book, Threads That Bind by Kika Hatzopoulou!

As a reminder, from now on, our monthly discussions will be both here on the OwlCrate blog AND on The Nest! Go check out Amber's discussion that will be full of fun extras like bookish charades, shelf scavenger hunts and coloring pages!

On each day we'll read a section of Threads That Bind both on the blog and in The Nest's group, and then discuss in the comments our theories and predictions. This means there will be spoilers for each section! Beware!

Just a reminder that this will be a SPOILER discussion for chapters 25-29 of Threads That Bind, so make sure you read or are finished this section before continuing.

Chapter 25:

Io is forced into having dessert in the garden with Luc, Thais, his campaign manager and the Phobos-born, Aris.

Io looks for a way to disengage and get out of socializing with them but she's forced to listen to Luc speak about the Initiative. He asks her questions about the Silts and Io learns from her sister and Thais that the Nine refused to meet with the commissioner and Mayor and have only admitted Io and Edai in months.

They speak about the need for other-born police and the Initiative and offer Io a job with them. She refuses and her sister tries to convince her that she, the Initiative and Luc are good people, that it's Bianca who is the issue, when the wraith woman, Raina jumps the garden fence and attacks Thais.

Io is cuts her life thread.

Chapter 26:

Io drapes a tablecloth over the body of the wraith and notices that she was carrying the brass knuckles favored by the Fortuna. She takes them and is comforted by her sister before going back to Amos's.

Io believes that Bianca may be behind the murders and follows her fate thread to Edei where she sees that Chimdi, Nico, Samiya and Edei are at the hospital and have been beaten up by the police.

Io tells them her theories and asks Edei if she can search Bianca's office. Edei refuses her as he trusts Bianca implicitly.

Chapter 27:

Io goes to follow Edei but Samiya tells her she needs healing. Samiya, being a horus-born, can heal Io instantly.

Samiya tells Io how Bianca saved Edei from poor treatment when they first came to Alante. Explains why Bianca has the loyalty of the Silts. Io asks Samiya about Bianca's blue lips and she learns that she drinks cocktails made by oneiroi-born...and Io knows exactly where to find one.

Io leaves the hospital room to find Edei. He apologizes for being rude to her and she tells him the story of why Thais left Alante to begin with, that Io wished she was gone. She asked Rosa to give her dreams of leaving and Io cut her sister's home-thread. Edei comforts her and asks if she truly believes Bianca may be behind the murders.

She says yes and Edei tells her that he does trust her. They shake hands.

Chapter 28:

Io goes to a dream palace and selects an Oneiroi-born, Morpheus, to take a nap with. They go into a room and she changes into a nightgown. Morpheus asks her what she wants to dream of right as Rosa drops them to the carpet, dead asleep. Edei is there as well and Rosa, he and Io go from room seven to eight where Bianca is asleep.

They plan to use Rosa's abilities to infiltrate Bianca's dream and show them to her, Io and Edei.

Io falls asleep in a world painted in blood.

Chapter 29

Io dreams of Lilac Row during the Riots. She sees Bianca and a person named Nalyssa arguing over the riots and the people of the Silts. Bianca is demanding that Nalyssa produce a man from inside her building. Konstantin Foydorov comes out, a chernobog-born.

She demands his help and Io realizes that she's in Bianca's dream of the last day of the Riots when Bianca overthrew a rogue gang to rule the Silts. Io puts together Bianca's plan of using Minos, Konstantin and Jarl to track the rogue gang, trap the rogue gang and keep the Mayor complacent to reduce civilian casualties.

Io watches and wonders about the identity of the rogue gang, as no one knows who they were. She watches as Bianca declares violence and death on the unknown gang, headed by a woman.

That was an absolute roller coaster and I'll be honest, I have absolutely no idea who is behind what. Do you?
