I get asked about this every time I go out to a restaurant because they find it so interesting and clever. It is perfect for a small crossbody or handheld wallet/purse/wristlet with a strap. The grip secures the hook to the table or desk so you can keep your valuables in sight. It's also super compact so it fits in any pocket. I just bought some to give to my friends because it is just that nifty.
Of course, I love the Memento Mori graphic design as well:)

In the south, (I don’t know if anywhere else is like this) it’s bad luck to put your bag on the ground. At least that’s what my grandmother always said, haha. So, I love this little item.
