Today, we want to chat with you about something close to our hearts - our unwavering commitment to creativity, authenticity, and the amazing talents of Independent artists and authors that make OwlCrate so special - and more specifically, how OwlCrate views the increasing use of AI in our field.
Here at OwlCrate, we believe in the magic of human imagination and the power of handcrafted artistry. That's why I'm thrilled to announce that we are deepening our commitment against the reliance on artificial intelligence in the creative process. While AI certainly has its place in the world, we are firm believers that there is no substitute for the raw emotion, passion, and unique perspective that human creators bring to the table.
As part of this commitment, we are doubling down on our support for Independent artists and talented authors. We want to shine a spotlight on their incredible work and give them the platform they deserve to share their stories with the world. By partnering with these amazing individuals, we are not only nurturing their creative spirit but also enriching the OwlCrate experience for all of you - our wonderful subscribers! But that's not all! In addition to championing Independent artistry, we are also implementing internal practices to validate and audit against the use of AI art and storytelling submissions. We want to ensure that every item, every story, and every experience we curate for you is infused with the genuine touch of human creativity. This will also ensure that we can confidently stand behind all of our artists, authors and partners to the best of our ability, and you will be able to build even more trust in our commitment to you- our readers.
As we continue to learn how AI will impact the broader publishing industry, we also want to express to you that we are regularly in discussion with our publishing partners on this topic and currently exploring additional contract clauses to protect all parties against the potential for AI written stories to be in the mix. For absolute clarity, OwlCrate does not support the use of AI for storytelling, as well as artistry.
So, what does this mean for you, our beloved OwlCrate community? It means that you can continue to expect the same level of quality, originality, and heartwarming surprises that you know and love us for. It means that every box you open, every book you read, and every piece of art you admire has been thoughtfully crafted with love and care by real people who pour their hearts and souls into their creations.
