Our Story

How OwlCrate came to be...

Korrina & Robert (Founders)

OwlCrate was a dream born in a basement suite. Back in November 2014, Korrina and Robert set out to create a project that would bring readers around the world together. After a few months of planning and researching, the 'Magical Monthly Reads' concept was born and OwlCrate officially launched in February 2015 with incredible support from the Young-Adult book community. We mailed out our first box in March, and it's been an amazing ride ever since.

Thanks to our great subscribers and the book-community as a whole, in the course of just six months, we outgrew our basement-suite and had to find a new packing facility. Our boxes are now lovingly assembled by a family-run fulfillment team out of Portland, OR. They are a tight-knit group who do a fabulous job building all of our magical boxes every single month. By the end of the year Korrina and Robert had to quit their day jobs so they could dedicate themselves entirely to OwlCrate.

2016 brought on a whole new set of adventures! We participated in YallWest (Santa Monica, CA), BEA/BookCon (Chicago, IL) and the Texas Teen Book Festival (Austin, TX), where we had the chance to meet many wonderful OwlCrate subscribers in person. We also brought on more book lovers to our OwlCrate team, creating a brilliant group of customer service superstars.

We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us along our journey. We couldn't have done this without you and you are the reason we are able to live our dreams. We have so many thrilling ideas for the future of OwlCrate and we can't wait to see what you all think! Whether you've been with us since the very beginning (hey Mom!), or you've only just discovered us, we thank you.
