ABOUT THE ROLE

Finance Coordinator

OwlCrate is seeking a Finance Coordinator to join our growing team! This new position at OwlCrate will report to the Senior Vice President and the CEO, and will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports and other financial activities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, asynchronous environment, communicates effectively with all team members and external stakeholders, and has strong self-management skills.

Who You'll Be working With

In this role, you will work mostly independently, while reporting to the Executive Team, to provide administrative support to the company’s finance operations. You will collaborate with other departments, such as the Product Development, Partnerships, Marketing, and Operations, as well as with external stakeholders like our accountants, publishers, manufacturers and so on.

RESPONSIBILITIES

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

As OwlCrate’s Finance Coordinator, you will handle all day-to-day financial tasks to ensure financial order, compliance and payments accuracy. Your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Accounts Payable/Receivable

  • Receive, track, pay and manage invoices
  • Handle payments for publishers, artists, authors, manufacturers and more
  • Take care of fulfillment & shipping payments
  • Process internal team payroll
  • Keep up with various licensing agreement terms and payments

Financial Tracking & Reporting

  • Prepare financial reports for executive team, including budget/expense reports, income statements, etc.
  • Keep track of financial transactions
  • Match statements with internal books to identify discrepancies
  • Help review products performance by preparing financial snapshots of specific SKUs
  • Work with the executive team to prepare for negotiations with vendors and partners

Financial Processes & Systems

  • Help the executive team build more efficient internal financial processes
  • Identify improvements to be made on our current financial platforms
  • Find new and better ways to streamline the current financial tasks flow
REQUIREMENTS

You Might BE OUR PERSON IF YOU...

  • Have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Have strong attention to detail and are meticulous about numbers
  • Are comfortable with implementing new processes from scratch
  • You can juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Like to work independently and can manage your time well
  • Have great communication skills and can take initiative when needed

Bonus Points If You have:

  • Have experience with Xero, Bill.com, Plooto, and Paypal
  • Are comfortable working with spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets) and databases (e.g. Shopify, Notion)
  • Are familiar with Slack, Google tools, Basecamp & Notion
  • Have previous experience with publishers

This is a permanent, full time, remote position open to anyone based in Canada. We’re looking for someone with strong written and verbal communication skills and you must be willing to regularly attend meetings during working hours in Pacific or Eastern time.

The target salary for this entry-level role is $60,000 (Canadian Dollars).
