What Is OwlCrate Jr?
OwlCrate Jr is an award-winning monthly subscription book box that delivers newly published hardcover novels and a collection of bookish goodies to your doorstep. Our original OwlCrate boxes are designed for ages 14+ and OwlCrate Jr is our Middle Grade box, designed for readers ages 8-12, or anyone young at heart!
We understand that it can sometimes be tough to get kids to pick up a book instead of turning on a screen, which is why we carefully curate every box to encourage curiosity, creativity, and imagination. Each one includes a brand new hardcover middle grade novel; an exclusive letter and signed book or bookplate from the author; a cool activity, game, or additional book; plus an assortment of fun goodies related to their theme of the month. Best of all, they ship right to your door starting at only $29.99 a month. Whether you have a voracious young bookworm in your life or are looking for a fun way to encourage a reluctant reader, OwlCrate Jr is the perfect low tech subscription for kids.
Who Is OwlCrate Jr Recommended For?
OwlCrate Jr is our Middle-Grade box designed for kids of any gender aged 8-12. Our main monthly books tend to lean towards a higher reading level, making them great independent reads for strong readers or fun read-alouds for younger or new readers.
If your reader is in-between ages for our Middle Grade and our original YA box, we recommend taking a look through our Past Boxes section to see which feels like a better fit! If you would like to see the previous books and items we have included, please visit the Past Jr Boxes page!
How much do Jr Boxes cost?
We currently offer Monthly, 3-Month and 6-Month plans.
• Monthly Jr Plan = $29.99 USD per month plus shipping.
• 3-Month Jr Plan = $86.97 USD per 3-Month period plus shipping and taxes.
• 6-Month Jr Plan = $167.94 USD per 6-Month period plus shipping and taxes.
Please note that all subscription plans are auto-renewing. Choose the GIFT option to avoid an auto-renewal.

When do your monthly boxes ship?
Our monthly subscription boxes typically ship between the 15th and 20th of each month. Once your box ships, you will receive an email with your shipping notification and tracking number. Delays can happen so be sure to check our Shipping Updates Page if you are curious about your shipment.
International boxes ship a bit earlier in the month as the process takes a bit longer, but you will receive an email with your shipping notification and tracking number around the time your box leaves the US, usually between the 15th and 20th.
Please make sure your shipping address on file is up to date before your next scheduled renewal, or email support@owlcrate.com to get your current month's shipment updated before the 5th of the month. If you are contacting support after the 5th, we may or may not be able to update your address depending on the status of your shipment in our system.
Can I order just one box instead of a renewing subscription?
You can definitely purchase a one-time box! There are three options to choose from:
1. Purchase a Monthly Subscription.
With this option, you can sign up for a regular monthly subscription through the main website. Once your order has gone through, you can log into your customer account and cancel your subscription. Cancelling won't affect the box you just purchase, only future renewals. The upside of this option is that if you love your first box (which we hope you do!), you can easily log into your account and reactivate your subscription to receive more boxes.
2. You can purchase yourself a Gift! With this option, you can purchase a one-time box without having to worry about an auto-renewal. For details on how to purchase a gift, please see our How To Order an One-Time Gift article.
3. You can purchase a past box (while quantities are available) in our ONLINE SHOP!
