Azura (she/her) is an artist living in Indonesia. She has always loved anything related to art ever since she was a little girl. It started with traditional media like acrylics, watercolor, and oil painting. Then she discovered digital art and bought her first drawing pad. She was deep in her love of reading during high school when she started, and the rest is history! She still enjoys painting every now and then, too.

Digital art is her main jam. She loves the freedom of carrying her drawing pad everywhere (“It’s like having a portable art studio"), but she still enjoys sketching in her notebook with a pen or pencil when inspiration strikes. Even though oil painting takes forever to finish, there’s something magical about it that keeps her coming back.

Azura moved around a lot growing up and lived in France and Qatar, which sparked her love for different cultures. She speaks French, but despite her best efforts, Arabic still escapes her. In her free time, she loves watching movies, and she finds beauty in everything around her, so she’s always ready to capture moments, whether that's food, scenery, or people.

Where do you find inspiration
for your designs?

I’m obsessed with Pinterest — it’s like a treasure trove of inspiration! I can get lost for hours exploring different styles, color palettes, and aesthetic vibes. My surroundings inspire me as well, but when my mind is all over the place, Pinterest helps me focus. I love saving my favorite finds and creating mood boards to spark new ideas and bring my vision to life.

Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?

I don’t think I can ever choose! There have just been so many over the years, spanning different phases of my life, that I can’t even begin to narrow it down to a single one. But I’ve noticed that my favorite pieces are always the ones I get completely lost in — when I can’t stop, stay up late, and just keep going because I’m so in the zone. Those are the artworks I end up loving the most.

  • The Belladonna-inspired Spoon Set, which was part of the February 2024 ‘Treacherous Love’ Young Adult Fantasy OwlCrate box.
  • This Savage Song-inspired enamel keychain which was part of the February 2022 ‘Among The Monsters’ Young Adult Fantasy OwlCrate box.

“Working with OwlCrate has always been such a joy, but my absolute favorite project has to be The Song of the Six Realms. It was an honor to be featured in that box, alongside so many talented artists. I also loved how the design let me explore new elements and try out ideas in different genres. That edition of the book is hands down one of my favorite special editions ever—the gold-sprayed edges are such a dreamy touch!”

What are some of your favorite
books or authors?

Such a hard question!. The Infernal Devices and the ACOTAR series come to mind because they took me on such an emotional rollercoaster. On the more classic side, I really appreciate The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho—it’s a short read but beautifully written and so thoughtful.
