ABOUT ELDRTCHMN

Eldrtchmn (they/them) is an artist based in the Netherlands. Ever since they were a child, they have enjoyed drawing. They always doodled in their notebooks growing up, but turned art into a career a few years ago when they became a freelancer.
All of their art is created using Procreate and their iPad. Before picking up digital painting, they tried other traditional techniques like etching and lithography, and they enjoyed drawing with pencils and pens. Lately, they’ve been trying their hand at oil painting as well.
Where do you find inspiration
for your designs?
Literally everywhere. While travelling or listening to music. Reading a good book or playing video games. Going to art museums and from art itself, it can be art of a friend or a famous painting, or just some quick doodle. I love every kind of art because it inspires me to draw more.
Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?
I especially like the second work in my portfolio, featuring Helle, one of my friend's (Tesknica) original characters. I fell in love with their design as soon as I first saw them, so naturally I just had to draw them. This piece was a gift for a friend and I think everything clicked when I made this, because the character's design is so close to what I usually draw, which is ethereal, dark beings.

“This was my first project with OwlCrate, but it was such an amazing experience. I really loved working on this cover. The dark academia theme is just something I adore.”
What are some of your favorite
books or authors?
My favourite genres are fantasy and sci-fi. I really love, for example, The Vampire Chronicles series by Anne Rice or Let the Right One In by the Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, as well as Classics like The Iliad or Dune. Currently, I'm reading The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb.
