“It's an illustration of Evangeline and Jacks from Once Upon A Broken Heart and I think it shows a lot of elements I like to add to my art: glow, sparkles and pretty princesses (yes, I mean Jacks as well)”
ABOUT PALINLINEART
Credits: @palinlineart
Line (she/her) has always created some form of art, but she only started calling herself an artist when she began reading and wanted to properly illustrate scenes and characters from the worlds she was reading about.
She decided to pick up digital art and posted her illustrations on social media to show others how she imagined the stories she read. Most of her work is made digitally, but she still loves returning to traditional media now and then, whether it’s oil painting, watercolor, or pencil sketches.
Where do you find inspiration
for your designs?
A lot of my inspiration, especially for something related to a book, is drawn from music (or TikTok edits, particularly when it comes to the men from romance novels. I don't know what they put in there, but it has me hypnotized).
Pinterest also plays a huge part in finding inspiration and discovering concepts for an illustration. And if inspiration doesn't strike with these options, I go back to reading a book, and that does the job just as well.
Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?
My favorite project to date has to be the foiled bookmark set I illustrated for Fairyloot based on the Shatter Me series. It was my first commission for a bookish company, and I’m still so grateful I got the chance to work on it. I have very fond memories of the Shatter Me books, so I tried my best at adding easter eggs into every illustration because I think it makes them even more special to other people who read the books. You can find the dedicated post for one of them here: Aaron Bookmark Illustration.

"I've so far only worked on one project with OwlCrate, the endpapers for Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent, but I'll still say it's my favourite because it literally slays"
What are some of your favorite
books or authors?
Tahereh Mafi’s This Woven Kingdom series holds the top spot on my list of favorite books (the vibes are absolutely immaculate, and the yearning? It’s everything). I’m also obsessed with The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem and The Book of Azrael series by Amber V. Nicole (both delivering yearning. Clearly, I have a type). Also, of course, some of my favourites are the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black and the Once Upon a Broken Heart series by Stephanie Garber, with their vivid fairytale settings and unique, gorgeous main characters.
