Rami (he/him) is a fantasy character illustrator who was born in a mixed Ukrainian-Russian family and lived in the two countries until the beginning of the war. At present, he resides in Asturias, Spain, with his partner and their cat.

Being a full-time artist allows him to mix his love for beautiful books and his passion for drawing fantasy. All of his art is hand-drawn, and he uses a graphic tablet by Wacom or his iPad as well as Photoshop and Procreate to create his art. In the past, he created art using oil paint.

”I have been drawing since my childhood. I graduated from art school and then from the Academy of Arts. So, I don't remember how it started, but it's a lifelong journey.”

He has worked with authors, book boxes, gamers, and more, taking inspiration from Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics, dark academia, and vampires, among other things. He enjoys drawing fantasy creatures, nature backgrounds, and beyond.

Where do you find inspiration
for your designs?

I'm inspired by beautiful nature, mythology, fantasy books, coffee, and classical art.

Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?

My favorite piece is Eros and Thanatos (middle image above). 2017. The frivolous young winged god of love shoots the ancient god of Death in the back. This art was created for Mythbook II (this art book collected artworks on mythological themes by more than a hundred talented artists).
