Getting to watch two characters you’ve been rooting for finally get another shot at love is exactly what books with the second chance romance trope offer. Regardless of whether the characters were once in love and needed a break, had a one-night stand, or found the right person at the wrong time, stories with this trope explore what it means to find love the second time around, and who can resist rooting for that? If you’re after emotional, heart-warming reunions, these six second chance romance books need to be on your TBR.

Harriet and Wyn were once engaged, but they recently broke up and haven’t yet had the chance to tell Harriet's best friends. When they find themselves on a week-long reunion at a cabin in Maine with some friends, they need to pretend they’re still together to avoid bringing everyone else down.
With a packed itinerary, as the pair spend more time together, they might just discover that what they were missing all along was each other.
Happy Place was the first second chance romance I ever read, and it's the book that started my love for this sub-genre. I really enjoyed the coastal town setting as well as the found family trope; the way the friend group supported one another made them feel like a true family, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

When archaeologists Corrie and Ford need each other's help to find answers to a mystery in the Mexican Jungle, they're forced to confront more than the several mysteries that await them.
Despite a rocky start to their collaboration, old feelings quickly start to resurface, and soon forced proximity on the dig leads to a breakdown of the walls they've been putting up. Once the trip is over, will the two return home with each other's hearts?
When I listened to this audiobook, it took me by surprise as I wasn't expecting to love a book billed as being for fans of Indiana Jones.
From early on in this book, I loved Corrie and Ford, and I wanted them to get their second chance at romance so badly. Corrie's love for her Mexican heritage was a great addition to the plot, and the representation in this book was fantastic.

Riley thought he'd left hockey behind after moving back to his hometown. But when his old best friend Adam (who also happens to be a famous hockey player) comes to town looking to reconnect with him, Riley has no choice but to confront old feelings.
As the two work to heal while living in the small town of Avery River, Nova Scotia, they'll get the chance to start over and try to build a future together, but will things work out for them?
Sports romance can be a saturated genre, and I have specific requirements to read a book. This one earned a place on my TBR because it features a single parent and themes of healing, two things I love in a story.

In this second chance rockstar rom-com novel, two musicians go on a cruise for a band reunion. A decade ago, former bandmates Micah and John broke up their band right after releasing their second album.
Now, John not only misses making music, but he also misses Micah and the way things were between them when they were teenagers. Over five days at sea, Micah and John will begin to see one another in a new light as they confront their feelings.
Initially, I wanted to read this book because the cover caught my eye, but the more I started to read about it, the more I wanted to read it.
I'm a music lover, so a book where both characters are musicians was bound to land on my TBR immediately. A cruise was a fun setting for this contemporary romance because, with lots of room, there was also plenty of forced proximity.

Despite being divorced for five years now, Wren and Ellis Byrd still have feelings for each other. They both live in the small town of Spunes, Oregon, the very place they first met and fell in love when they were just kids.
To help their son, who they had when they were teenagers, move into college, they end up on a road trip together. Could the journey along the California coast make them fall back in love again?
As soon as you open this book, you'll find that Tarah DeWitt’s writing style will pull you right in. Wren and Ellis’s story was truly beautiful, and I’m so glad I found this book when I did. I loved the found family and how it was a small town romance, and I can't wait to see if there will be more books like this from her!

Navessa Allen is back with the second book in the Into the Darkness Trilogy!
Ten years have passed since Nico "Junior" Trocci and Lauren Marchetti last saw each other. When they first started talking through an app, they had no idea who they were talking to.
When they reconnect after a decade, Junior and Lauren see how much they’ve grown and finally have a chance at a relationship. But will their families tear them apart, or will they find a way to make things work?
I'm not usually one to pick up dark rom-com books, but I must say I enjoy Navessa Allen's writing. While this book might not be as funny as Lights Out, it's still a great addition to the Into the Darkness trilogy and worth a read if it's your vibe.
Junior and Lauren are both characters with compelling stories to tell. Lauren's roommates, Ryan and Taylor, also add a fun found family element to this story, which I loved.
No matter what other tropes you love, you’re sure to find something you enjoy in one of these second chance romance novels. Which one will you choose to read first? Happy reading!
