The story continues...

Chapter 14:
Winnie sleeps through the day, waking at 3pm. Checking her email she sees that she has won the bet with Mario about whether there is a werewolf in town, and needing some support, she hops on her bike to head to Gunther’s Garage, where Jay works.

Chapter 15:
At Gunther’s it seems all of the popular Luminaries have decided it’s the new hang out - after Winnie let it slip to the twins that that is where Jay is. Jay accosts her, and pulling her away from the group of people says they are leaving. Winnie agrees to go with him if he will help train her. It’s a deal.

Chapter 16:
He takes her back to her house to wait out the rain. While she’s upstairs changing Jay falls asleep on the couch and Winnie approaches to wake him up. He immediately slams her against the wall, pinning her. He tells her to never ever surprise a nightmare.

Chapter 17:
Jay drove off without another word, taking her bike with him. Darian and Andrew come over for a celebratory dinner as Darian got a promotion. Winnie heads to bed, determined to see Mario the next day and discuss the whispering nightmare in the forest.

Chapter 18:
While walking to the Sunday estate for training the next morning Jay pulls up to give her a ride, apologizing. They make a plan to train in the afternoon after he drops her off. Feeling panicked before a lesson with Coach Rosa where she knows she is going to have to relay the story of what happened in the woods, Winnie hides in the bathroom only to be confronted by Erica, who asks her to ask Darian where he got the locket he gave Winnie for her birthday.

Chapter 19:
After training Winnie heads to Mario’s office where she tells him about the Whisperer. She is not the only one who has seen it - Jay’s aunt Lizzy caught it on video. But the council doesn’t seem to want to take it seriously.

 Questions:

  1. What do you think is the deal with Winnie's locket? Do you think it was Erica's before?
  2. Why do you think Jay reacted the way he did when Winnie startled him from sleep?
  3. Do you think the Whisperer will make an appearance at the next trial?
  4. Recommend another book that features scary monsters!
