Our October 2024 book is set in a world under tyrannical rule, where our protagonist lives a life of uncertainty. Her memories have been fragmented and her trust broken over and over again, leaving her with nowhere left to turn.
When she stumbles upon a dangerous vampire, she feels inexplicably drawn to him, and as her past starts returning piece by piece, she soon realizes that she must flee with his help. She accompanies her best friend to a succession of trials hosted by the vampire king, in which five humans compete for a cycle of safety from the vampires seeking blood. All the while, her vampire — the one she knows she should not trust — haunts her every step of the way.
