Dri Gomez (she/her) has been creating art ever since she can remember. She was a shy kid, so her passion for drawing started as a crutch to make friends and share her thoughts. She didn’t consider sharing art online until she was in her mid-teens, but she always filled her notebooks entirely with art, particularly of her favorite books and comics at the time.

Although she studied a non-art-related degree at university, making art never stopped being her passion, regardless of what she was doing. It took her some time before she realized that nothing else made her as happy as creating art did, and she’s fortunate enough to be able to dedicate most of her days to making art.

Dri mainly makes her art digitally, but she also has a passion for inking and recently started painting with gouache. She believed that it’s very important to pick up more than one medium as an artist, if possible, as every medium teaches you something different and valuable.

Where do you find inspiration
for your designs?

Art is something that is so tied to stories for me. In my working life, I take inspiration from the source books and games I get the honor to be a part of! But even in my personal work, a lot of it derives from things like tabletop roleplaying games that I’m an avid player of! I feel like my passion for art is so intrinsically tied to my love of stories and narratives.

Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?

My favorite pieces of art tend to be my TTRPG personal art, mostly because I make it for my friends. I love fandom, so I love giving back to it, but there is no joy bigger to me than having a skill that allows me to share snapshots with the people I love most of our favorite characters and stories we make together.

“I had the honor of working on many books I adore with OwlCrate, but the covers for the 10th anniversary of The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater will always be special in that I was such an avid participant in the fandom for years before I was approached for it. I end up falling for so many of the stories I have had a chance to experience with OwlCrate, but I never even considered being able to leave my mark on The Raven Cycle fandom in this way. It made me feel so honored and grateful, and we worked so hard on it! I just don’t have enough words to describe how special it was to even just get that first email.”

What are some of your favorite
books or authors?

As I just gushed about The Raven Cycle, I would put it up there as one of my favorite series. In general, I tend to read many books by a lot of different authors, so it’s hard to say if I have a favorite author. Fantasy and horror are my favorite genres, so I love to see books that mix the two!
