ABOUT DIANADWORAK

Diana Dworak is a freelance illustrator based in the UK. Since she was a little kid, she was drawing on everything and was obsessed with cartoons, games, and art of any kind. She always knew she wanted to paint and never entertained a different career path.
She studied animation at Bournemouth University but decided that although she loved watching it, she much preferred painting book art as a career. At present, she does around 70% of her detailed work in Photoshop and Wacom, but she also enjoys sketching on her iPad in Procreate since she loves the versatility it gives.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Games, animation, and books, mainly! I've always adored Art Nouveau/Alfons Mucha designs and often add that style to my pieces and frames. For personal pieces, being Polish, I'm greatly inspired by Slavic mythology. I did my final university project on Polish myths and folklore creatures!
Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?
My favourite piece is probably 'Spider' (even though I'm very arachnophobic! 😂). It was inspired by Polish/Slavic folklore and witches.
DIANADWORAK x OWLCRATE

Diana was one of the artists who worked on our social deduction card game Stryx, along with creaturegraphics, wictorian_art, zarimoth, andiliion, celi_arts, and meowtricia_. She illustrated the cards for Freya, Osiris, Chang'e, Medusa, Apophis, and Titanoboa with art direction by @heyatlascreative and @stubbornpagemage.
"The Stryx project was probably my favourite as I adore mythology, and it was really unique! I am forever grateful to OwlCrate, as they gave me my first 'real' job in the bookish community a couple of years ago! It was V.E. Schwab's 'A Darker Shade of Magic' character cards, and I'll always have a soft spot for that project. It started my whole career in this amazing community. Thank you!"
What are some of your favorite books or authors?
I obviously love all the young adult books I get to read, especially if they have magic! That's why I am so grateful to be a part of this community. Some of my older favourites are The Hobbit, Hunger Games, and Howl's Moving Castle. I was definitely obsessed with Eragon as a child too; that's probably where my obsession with magic, witches, and elves started.
