Patricia Pria (she/her) is a freelance illustrator and concept artist based in Toronto, Canada. As a child, she would draw on anything she could find with pencils. She had a short anime phase and was enamored with the unique interpretations of the human features in Japanese animations, with their exaggerated faces and large expressive eyes—she wanted to somehow emulate that on paper, and she found a lot of joy in realizing she could copy a character she really liked and bring it to life.
Eventually, she grew out of her anime phase and started delving into a lot more fantasy-centric media. Dragons, elves, orcs, and dwarves started coming to the forefront of the kind of drawings she would do. When she turned 15, she started learning how to create digital paintings online, and at present, she creates most of her art digitally in Photoshop.
In her free time, she enjoys playing Magic: The Gathering and board games, including Wingspan and Ark Nova, which are some of her favorites.
"I fell in love with my craft so much so that creating, painting, and drawing have grown to be synonymous with breathing to me. It brings me so much joy and fulfillment, and I can't imagine myself doing anything else!"
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
I take a lot of inspiration from movies and other fantasy illustrators. I play a lot of Magic: The Gathering, and plenty of the art on the cards inspires me!
Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?
I found that my favorite piece of art has always been a personal one, not tied to any particular project. Mirri* was one of my favorite characters in the Magic universe, and painting her was so fun! It definitely felt like it was a testament to how much I've grown as an artist.

Patricia was one of the artists who worked on our social deduction card game Stryx, along with creaturegraphics, wictorian_art, zarimoth, dianadworak, andiliion, and celi_arts. She illustrated the cards for Kraken, Kappa, Navagunjara, and Thunderbird with art direction by @heyatlascreative and @stubbornpagemage.
