ABOUT WICTORIAN_ART
From the moment she could first hold a pencil, Wictoria Nordgård (she/her) has been creating art. Growing up, she enjoyed drawing dinosaurs and characters from Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with the latter forming her childhood, shaping her art style, and making her fall in love with the fantasy genre.
At present, Wictoria is based in Oslo, along with her 10-year-old son, who also loves drawing. She works as a freelance illustrator as well as a 2D animator and digital artist for Gyldendal Norsk Forlag, the largest book publishing company in Norway.
Wictoria loves to travel, and she documents her trips around the world on Instagram. Interestingly, although unrelated to what she does for work today, she studied Japanese at university!
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
I look for inspiration in many places, be that during my travels, on walks outside when I see patterns and light in the scenery, in art created by others, and in TV shows, movies, and books.
Do you have a favorite piece of art you've created to date? What makes it special to you?
To date, 'Huldra' (a female creature from the folklore of Norway - see top image) is probably my favourite piece. I painted it for the official post stamp company of Norway, and it was fun to see my art featured on postage stamps used on letters sent both within Norway and from Norway to other parts of Europe. The stamps will go down in 'history’ since they’re collectible and showcased annually.

Wictoria was one of the artists who worked on our social deduction card game Stryx along with creaturegraphics, zarimoth, dianadworak, andiliion, celi_arts, and meowtricia_. She illustrated the cards for Athena, Horus, Huitzilopochtli, and Loki with art direction by @heyatlascreative and @stubbornpagemage.
"I worked on 4 pieces featuring different Gods, which was a real fun project. Loki was probably my favourite one to paint of the Gods."
What are some of your favorite books or authors?
I think Game of Thrones is my favourite book series, even though I found the books difficult to read when I was 17.
