ABOUT THE ROLE

Romantasy Product Dev. Assistant

OwlCrate is seeking a Romantasy Product Development Assistant to join our growing team! We are looking for a passionate Romantasy reader and highly engaged member of the bookish community who is excited to help bring stunning special editions, subscription books, and exclusive products to life. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, can balance multiple time-sensitive projects, and understands that the smallest details often make the biggest impact.

Who You'll Be working With

In this role, you will work directly with our Product Development team to help create gorgeous editions of the Romantasy books we love so much. While your primary focus will be Romantasy projects, you'll also occasionally support projects across our other genres. We're looking for someone who is deeply immersed in the Romantasy community, keeps up with new releases and industry trends, and is excited to help shape future OwlCrate editions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

Actively assist the Romantasy Product Lead at OwlCrate with their ongoing projects. The work can vary depending on the project, but some duties you can anticipate doing involve:

  • Reading books and manuscripts for research and review purposes
  • Assisting with brainstorming art ideas for our subscription books and special edition books
  • Putting together pitch decks and proposals for projects
  • Researching independent artists and small businesses to work with
  • Communicating with artists directly for design work for books/items
  • Communicating directly with publishers, authors, and literary agencies
  • Compiling content/information for product launches, social media posts, etc
  • Keeping a close eye on the online book community for feedback as well as new and exciting book trends for the team to explore
  • Being an active participant in our bookish community platforms, especially Instagram/TikTok and the Nest App (please be comfortable stepping in front of the camera from time to time!)
REQUIREMENTS

You Might BE OUR PERSON IF YOU...

  • Are an avid Romantasy reader who keeps up with both bestselling and emerging authors
  • Have a passion for art, artists, book design, and special edition collectibles
  • Value collaborating with others and helping bring creative ideas to life behind the scenes
  • Have a keen eye for design details, typography, and visual storytelling
  • Are highly organized and enjoy managing multiple deadlines and moving pieces at once
  • Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Bonus Points If You have:

  • Experience with design programs such as Illustrator, Adobe, PhotoShop etc
  • Fantastic time management skills and the ability to successfully meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with business/project management tools such as GSuite, Slack, Notion, Asana, Basecamp
  • Experience creating mood boards, visual references, or creative briefs

Details

This is a permanent, full time, remote position. This position is open to anyone based in Canada. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be willing to regularly attend meetings during working hours in Pacific or Eastern time.

The target salary for this entry-level role is $55,000 (Canadian Dollars).
